HTM Achievement

Overview

Our HTM team shattered expectations and secured 1st place at the prestigious HSMAI Global Case Competition.

These four incredible students – Eimeo Lee Chip Sao, Ether Portugal, Teaitara Baraka, and Taaken Iobi – competed against hundreds of students from leading hospitality programs around the world (the University of Macau in China won the competition last year).

In a hypothetical scenario, they created a commercial strategy to help underperforming hotels in Monterrey, Mexico. Their dedication, hard work, innovative approach, and superior presentation skills helped them achieve what no BYU-Hawaii team has ever done – capture the top spot on their first try!

This victory brings immense pride to our program and also earns them a well-deserved $2,000 scholarship. Eimeo, Ether, Teaitara, and Taaken are an inspiration to all of us. They have demonstrated the great things we can accomplish when we set our minds to it.

Mahalo nui loa to our exceptional HTM team! We can't wait to defend our new title in next year's competition!
